LONDON: ESL FACEIT Group, a video game entertainment and operations business, opened its new regional headquarters and flagship esports venue in Riyadh on Tuesday, a move it said furthers its commitment to the growth of esports in 海角直播.

It described the studio, which covers more than 1,000 square meters and can accommodate more than 500 guests, as Riyadh鈥檚 premier event space of its kind and said it will help solidify the city鈥檚 status as a global capital for esports.

It will serve as a hub for esports fans and communities, EFG added, while hosting local tournaments, such as the ESL Saudi Challenge, and international competitions. With more than 300 square meters of LED screens, it said, the venue also offers comprehensive facilities for broadcasters, as well a venue for brand activations and other marketing and media events.

鈥淲e are committed to supporting the Kingdom鈥檚 vision, tapping into its energetic, young population to fuel major growth,鈥 said CEO Niccolo Maisto.

鈥淲ith the opening of our new regional headquarters, we are establishing a new stage for our most exciting competitions, while helping to drive key infrastructure and localized content.

鈥淲e firmly believe Riyadh is becoming the global capital of esports, and we鈥檙e honored to play a leading role.鈥

EFG said its investment in the new facility is expected to create professional pathways for the development of Saudi talent and creation of jobs across multiple functions, including broadcast production, content creation, and community and event management. This is in line with the aims of 海角直播鈥檚 National Games and Esports Strategy to create 39,000 jobs and contribute SR 50 billion ($13.3 billion) to national gross domestic product by 2030.

Mohammed Alasiri, EFG鈥檚 director of human resources, said: 鈥淲alking into the new facility in Riyadh, I felt the energy of a new chapter and the opportunity for us, as Saudi talent, to shape the future of esports.

鈥淭his studio isn鈥檛 just a building; it鈥檚 a hub for local ambition, global standards and community growth.鈥

EFG was the official operating partner for the recent Esports World Cup in Riyadh, an eight-week event organizers described as the largest esports and gaming festival in the world. The business said that it has been developing tournament structures, anticheat software, live gaming events, and esports festivals for gamers and fans for more than 20 years, with a combined fan reach of 225 million.

Counter-Strike, a team-based multiplayer, tactical, first-person shooter, is one of the most popular games that feature in contests hosted by EFG, and its predecessor the ESL (Electronic Sports League). Others include Dota 2, League of Legends and Call of Duty.

鈥淲e were here for the past, we are doubling down on our investment for the present, and we are committed to building the future of esports鈥 in 海角直播, Maisto said.

鈥淭his studio is a physical testament to that commitment, allowing us to effectively bridge local Saudi audiences and competitions with our global fanbase and events, creating highly attractive, long-term engagement opportunities for international and local brands.鈥

  • With a 2-1 win at defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern made it 16 straight victories in all competitions
  • Real Madrid came unstuck at Anfield for the second straight season, losing 1-0 to Liverpool

LONDON: Bayern Munich and Liverpool won the blockbuster matchups in the Champions League on Tuesday. Micky van de Ven might have already scored the competition鈥檚 goal of the season.

With a 2-1 win at defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern made it 16 straight victories in all competitions to underline its status as perhaps the new leading force in European soccer.

Real Madrid came unstuck at Anfield for the second straight season, losing 1-0 to Liverpool as Trent Alexander-Arnold 鈥 jeered on his every touch 鈥 endured a miserable return to his long-time former club.

Midway through the fourth round of league-stage games, only Bayern and Arsenal are on a maximum 12 points. Arsenal swept to a 3-0 win at Slavia Prague, bringing 15-year-old Max Dowman off the bench to make him the youngest player in Champions League history.

The moment of the night fell to Van de Ven, the lanky Tottenham defender who set off on a mazy, 90-meter run from the edge of his own area to score the team鈥檚 third goal in a 4-0 win over FC Copenhagen.

鈥淚t was like Lionel Messi transformed into a center back,鈥 Tottenham manager Thomas Frank said.

Mixed fortunes for Diaz

Bayern oozed quality in the first half before showing resilience in the second half to hold on with 10 men at the Parc des Princes on a night of mixed fortunes for Luis Diaz.

The former Liverpool winger produced clinical finishes in the fourth and 32nd minutes to power the German champions into a 2-0 lead, only to mar his display with a reckless lunge from behind on PSG right back Achraf Hakimi in first-half stoppage time. Diaz was sent off after a VAR review and Hakimi hobbled out of the game with an injured left ankle.

PSG, who had already seen Ballon d鈥橭r winner Ousmane Dembele come off hurt, reduced the deficit through substitute Joao Neves and Bayern endured some nervy moments before clinching yet another win.

Mac Allister鈥檚 winner

At Anfield, Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois produced save after save to defy Liverpool almost single-handedly but was finally beaten by Alexis Mac Allister鈥檚 header off a free kick in the 61st minute.

The teams had played each other in the league phase of last season鈥檚 competition at the same stadium, with Liverpool winning 2-0. It took the brilliance of Courtois to keep the score down, with Kylian Mbapp茅 kept quiet at the other end.

Alexander-Arnold, who left Liverpool for Madrid in the offseason, was jeered by the home fans before the game and after coming on as a second-half substitute. Earlier, a mural dedicated to him near Anfield was defaced.

Arsenal鈥檚 record-setters

A fourth straight win. An eighth straight clean sheet to tie a 122-year record. A competition debut for 15-year-old schoolkid.

It was quite the night for Arsenal in Prague, where Bukayo Saka converted a penalty and Mikel Merino added two second-half goals.

Arsenal have yet to concede a goal in the Champion League and have matching their best-ever streak for shutouts, which was recorded in 1903 when in the second tier of English soccer.

Dowman, aged 15 years and 308 days, entered as a second-half substitute for the Premier League leaders for his latest record-setting salvo.

Spalletti鈥檚 start

Juventus are still waiting for their first win of the league stage after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Sporting Lisbon in Luciano Spalletti鈥檚 first Champions League game since taking over as coach.

The former Italy and Napoli coach watched the team鈥檚 poor start as Maximiliano Ara煤jo fired in off the far post in the 12th minute. Francisco Trinc茫o struck the crossbar just afterward, leaving Spalletti with his arms outstretched on the sideline.

Dusan Vlahovic equalized in the 34th.

Wins for Atletico, Monaco

Julian Alvarez, Conor Gallagher and Marcos Llorente scored a goal each as Atletico Madrid defeated Union Saint-Gilloise 3-1 at home.

It was a second win for Atletico, who were coming off a 4-0 defeat at Arsenal in the previous round.

Monaco also won, 1-0 at Bodo/Glimt thanks to US international Folarin Balogun鈥檚 first-half strike, for a first victory of the campaign.

Stalemate

Goals were expected but none arrived in a 0-0 draw between Napoli and visiting Eintracht Frankfurt.

Napoli were coming off a 6-2 loss to PSV Eindhoven two weeks ago but were without their most creative player in Kevin De Bruyne, who has just undergone surgery on his right hamstring.

It marked an end to Frankfurt鈥檚 remarkable run of 5-1 results in this season鈥檚 competition, with the German team having been on the receiving end of two of them.

In the night鈥檚 other match, US striker Ricardo Pepi scored in the third minute of stoppage time for PSV to salvage a 1-1 draw at Olympiakos.
