DUBAI: American-Dutch-Palestinian model Gigi Hadid, founder of knitwear brand Guest in Residence, unveiled this week the brand’s autumn 2025 collection through a nature-themed campaign shoot.

The images, which Hadid shared on Instagram with the caption “Welcome to Camp GIR, introducing @guestinresidence Fall ’25,” were captured in an outdoor setting surrounded by dense forest greenery.

The shoot included scenes by a wooded creek, inside a rustic cabin and in a canoe on calm water.

The collection features an array of seasonal knitwear pieces including sweaters, scarves, jackets, cardigans and layering essentials.

Textures vary from chunky cable knits to finer ribbed styles, styled with relaxed denim, tartan skirts and outdoor accessories including rubber boots and bandanas.

The color palette reflects traditional autumn tones — deep maroon, burnt orange, forest green, navy, cream and camel.

The collection includes striped sweaters, argyle patterns and plaid designs, along with plain pieces in neutral colors. Many outfits are layered with scarves and sweaters worn over the shoulders or tied around the waist.

Hadid wrote in her Instagram caption that the collection is available online and in stores.

Her last collection was released in June for summer. The line was inspired by New York.

“For our collection, we embrace the great duality every New Yorker faces in Summer: the thrill of a busy day in the city, paired with the urge to hop in a car with friends and escape to somewhere quiet and laid-back,” she said on Instagram when she dropped the line.

The runway star launched her clothing label in September 2022.

“Over the last handful of years, I didn’t want to be backed into starting my own line just because there was an offer on the table or a deal to be made,” she wrote to her followers on Instagram at the time.

“The earliest days of Guest in Residence came about when I started to question the cashmere market, and those answers gave me a path,” she added.

“I believe that because of its sustainable qualities — natural and made to cherish and to pass down — cashmere is a luxury that should be more accessible.”

Celebrities including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Swift and Bradley Cooper have been spotted wearing the label’s designs.

DUBAI: Lebanese celebrity hairstylist Tony El-Mendelek this week posted a video on Instagram showing himself giving US diplomat Morgan Ortagus a glamorous new hairdo. 

In the video, El-Mendelek begins by trimming Ortagus’s hair, focusing on shaping her bangs and the ends with clean, precise cuts. He then proceeds to blow-dry her hair into large, voluminous curls.

The post quickly drew praise from fans and industry peers alike. Celebrity makeup artist Bassam Fattouh commented with fire emojis, while others left heart-eyed emojis and messages such as “the best,” “the king,” and “when the magic hands meet the big boss, perfection happens.”

El-Mendelek is known across the Arab world for his decades-long career in hairstyling. Morgan Ortagus is an American political advisor, diplomat and former television commentator. 

Born in Florida, she served as spokesperson for the US State Department from 2019 to 2021. She currently holds the role of Deputy Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East. 

Ortagus began her government career with USAID in Baghdad and later served as an intelligence analyst at the US Department of the Treasury. She also worked in Riyadh as Deputy Treasury Attaché. Outside government, she held private sector positions with Standard Chartered Bank and Ernst & Young.

DUBAI: Part-Middle Eastern actress Yara Shahidi is the face of Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest “Divine” campaign for the luxury brand’s new elixir.

 The French brand released its Divine eau de parfum as an elixir — a type of concentrated perfume — this week, with Shahidi starring in the campaign alongside model Raphael Diogo.

Crafted by perfumer Quentin Bisch, the scent has floral and marine notes and was first released as an eau de parfum in 2023.

The fragrance is vegan, cruelty free and made with 90 percent “natural origin ingredients responsibly sourced,” according to the label.  

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

In a new set of images and clips shared on social media, Shahidi can be seen posing in a gold-hued sequinned gown while clutching the new product. The actress also showed off a velvet black top edged with gold baubles in another image.

In the original 2023 campaign, Shahidi appeared alongside Spanish actress Lola Rodriquez, South African catwalk star Thando Hopa, US actress and model Tess McMillan, Lagos-born model Janet Jumbo and Brazilian runway model Ana Elisa de Brito.  

The “Grown-ish” star was also included in the casting decisions and creative aspects of the launch, which aimed to celebrate women. 

“Actress, model, activist, social justice advocate and feminist, she was one of Time Magazines’ Most Influential Teens of 2016. Harvard graduate and creator of Eighteen x 18, a platform to encourage young US people to vote, Yara Shahidi has many different faces,” the brand wrote in a statement at the time.

The collaboration came after Shahidi was spotted wearing a custom-made, bronzed look by Jean Paul Gaultier at the 2023 Met Gala.

 Shahidi is also a global ambassador for the Dior’s fashion and beauty lines and was named among National Geographic’s list of 33 “visionaries, creators, icons, and adventurers” from across the globe earlier this year.

Part-Middle Eastern star Shahidi, whose father is Iranian, was named on the list in the “Creators” subsection that celebrates “out-of-the-box thinkers developing innovative solutions.”

The “Black-ish” and “Grown-ish” actress was highlighted due to her podcast “The Optimist Project.”

Shahidi, 25, launched the podcast to explore how to live a more fulfilling life with various special guests hosted on each episode.

Shahidi, a Harvard graduate, says she was inspired by the dynamic conversations she has with members of her diverse family.

  • From leopard skin to lace, here’s what you need in your wardrobe for the rest of the year

Faux fur

Designers from across the spectrum all seemed to agree that the big winter trend this year will be faux fur, whether in those classic symbols of luxury, fur coats, or in embellishments to jackets, bra tops, and even handbags. Elie Saab offered numerous examples in a Fall/Winter collection (pictured) that was, according to the label’s Instagram, “modern, feminine and tactile … high-altitude style for effortless living.” Elsewhere, brands including Valentino and Chloé combined it with another of the season’s major trends: boho fashion.  

Lace

Vintage-inspired lace was prominent in the Fall/Winter collections of several major designers. For Saint Laurent, Bella Hadid (pictured) walked in this blue lace coordinated set with power shoulders (another Fall 2025 trend). Colored lace — especially green or yellow — was popular elsewhere too (Gucci even went neon), alongside the classic white or black. 

Browns

Staving off competition from purple and green, brown seems set to once again be the dominant color this coming season, continuing a streak that goes back over 18 months now. Michael Kors’ collection (pictured) featured this chocolate-brown sequined co-ord — a color Stella McCartney also used to great effect on a strapless gown. But browns of all shades and in all materials were ubiquitous on the Fall/Winter catwalks.  

Pencil skirts

Once a staple of women’s wardrobes, the mid-length fitted pencil skirt made a notable return on the F/W catwalks this year across all cities: in Calvin Klein’s minimalist collection, in Sarah Burton’s first collection for Givenchy, and in the pastel-hued co-ords of Fendi and Gucci (pictured). Many designers paired the skirt with oversized or flow-y tops — whether blouses or knitwear.

While the fashion press seems divided on exactly which animal print will be the hottest, there’s no debate that an animal print of some kind is a must-have for your Fall wardrobe. Leopard print has been a strong favorite for a while now — and was spotted (see?) on dresses, skirt suits, and accessories at numerous F/W shows. But zebra stripes — as used by Nina Ricci (pictured) — are also going to be big. 

Capes and drapes

Any self-respecting 2025 winter wardrobe is going to include outerwear that is either cape-inspired or an actual cape. Layering or draping was a feature of coats from Michael Kors and Calvin Klein to Altuzarra and Balmain (pictured). It’s a look that works for both casual and more-formal affairs — and a built-in hood is always welcome if you’re travelling to chillier climes over the winter months. 

Old-school tailoring

Power shoulders, frills, and trimming is all well and good, but sometimes all that’s needed to lift an outfit to ‘must-have’ status is great tailoring. Structured silhouettes were a major feature of Sarah Burton’s first Givenchy collection — creating that classic ‘hourglass figure’ look. Immaculate, if unflashier, cuts were also evident in the collections of Valentino and Tom Ford (pictured), whose suits will suit business meetings and social get-togethers equally well.

DUBAI: ֱ streetwear label 1886 has landed in the heart of Paris with an exclusive pop-up at Galeries Lafayette Homme, running until Sept. 1.

Located on the first floor of the department store, the space marks the brand’s first physical presence in the French capital and a major milestone in its international journey.

Founded in Riyadh in 2016 by Fahad Aljomiah and Khalid Aljammaz, 1886 is a ready-to-wear label that combines streetwear influences with references to Saudi youth culture.

Its designs blend modern aesthetics with traditional elements, aiming to reflect the evolving urban identity of the region.

“Bringing 1886 to Paris, the fashion capital of the world, and especially to Galeries Lafayette, is a very meaningful milestone for us,” Aljomiah told Arab News.

“It’s an opportunity to showcase a Saudi-born brand on a global stage and to share our vision for a new generation of fashion coming from the region.”

The Paris-exclusive capsule was designed to resonate with the local market while staying true to the brand’s identity.

“We carefully studied the Paris audience and designed the capsule to blend the contemporary DNA of 1886 with elements that resonate with the European market. Our goal was to present something unique that attracts attention while staying true to our identity,” he said.

“The response has been very positive,” Aljomiah added. “We’ve seen a lot of interest in the brand and the new pieces. Many visitors appreciated the way we fuse modern aesthetics with Saudi cultural influences.”

While some of the exclusive pieces may later be available online or in select stores, the focus remains on delivering a unique experience in Paris. With successes elsewhere, 1886 is eyeing further global expansion.

“We have plans to expand into other international markets soon. Our success in Paris and Qatar has strengthened our confidence to continue building globally while maintaining our core identity,” Aljomiah said.

DUBAI: US Dutch Palestinian model Gigi Hadid appeared in a new campaign for Rabanne this week featuring the brand’s Million Gold For Her fragrance.

She shared photos on Instagram of herself holding an oversized version of the perfume bottle. She captioned the post: “It’s always golden hour with @rabanne.”

Hadid, named as a global ambassador for the brand in August 2024, revealed behind-the-scenes shots of the campaign shoot.

Hadid has been focused on her fashion brand, Guest in Residence, and launched a summer collection inspired by New York in June.

“I’m endlessly inspired by New York City — a place I’ve called home for many years — and the notion that we’re all guests here. Hadid launched her clothing label, which features soft, colorful knitwear, in September 2022. Celebrities spotted wearing the designs include Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Swift and Bradley Cooper.

In June, Hadid also unveiled a new campaign with Brazilian footwear brand Havaianas. The model starred in a vintage-inspired series of photographs. In the shots, she shows off slippers from her collaboration with the brand and is seen wearing retro outfits on a beach.

She celebrated the launch at a party in Altro Paradiso in New York. At the event, she wore flip flops paired with a white tweed Marc Jacobs minidress, featuring vibrant scattered crystals.
