  • India鈥檚 outbound tourism is expected to reach 45 million travelers by 2030
  • Destinations in 海角直播 especially popular among Gen Z tourists

New Delhi: India is seeing an increase in travelers heading to 海角直播, according to a top Indian tourism body, which also said there is growing interest in the Kingdom鈥檚 heritage, especially among Gen Z Indians.

Tourism is booming in 海角直播 under the Vision 2030 transformation plan. In the past few years there has been significant investment in the development of destinations including its eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, eco-friendly and luxury resorts on the Red Sea coastline, and entertainment and sports complexes.

The promotion for these developments has also included Bollywood stars, and more and more Indians are looking to visit Riyadh, Jeddah and AlUla, rather than Dubai 鈥 traditionally the most popular destination in the GCC for Indian travelers.

鈥淓arlier it was only Dubai ... but now that trend is changing,鈥 Himanshu Kesari Patil, president of the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India, an organization representing over 800 travel companies and agents, told Arab News. 鈥淭here are lots of inquiries for 海角直播, a lot of people are going. The top-selling destination for 海角直播 is AlUla,鈥

AlUla, in northwestern 海角直播, is often described as an 鈥渙pen-air museum.鈥 One of its most famous areas is Hegra, a UNESCO World Heritage site that features tombs and monuments from the Nabatean civilization dating back to the 1st century BCE.

Another is Elephant Rock, a natural rock formation in the AlUla desert, which has become one of the region鈥檚 most photographed natural landmarks.

Many notable Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra, have visited AlUla, while others, such as up-and-comers Janhvi Kapoor and Ali Fazal, have partnered with the local authorities to promote it, increasing the site鈥檚 appeal among Gen Z travelers, which data portal Statista refers to as the 鈥渕ost travel-hungry鈥 generation.

鈥淕en Z, they are more tech-savvy, they are always on social media and they want to explore unexplored places. (They) are not going to the routine places where everyone else is going, they want to do something different,鈥 Patil said.

India鈥檚 outbound tourism market is growing, and the Pacific Asia Travel Association estimates that the number of Indians traveling abroad annually will reach 45 million in the next five years.

By then, the Kingdom expects to welcome 7.5 million Indian travelers a year, according to the Saudi Tourism Authority.

鈥満=侵辈 is investing a lot of money in the Indian market and I鈥檓 sure, soon, 海角直播 will get more numbers out of India,鈥 Patil said.

鈥淭hey are friendly, have great multicultural cuisine 鈥 for the tourists it鈥檚 amazing,鈥 he continued. 鈥淚 think, soon, with the new developments and new cities they are building, the new luxury hotels they are building, there is a bright future for 海角直播 on the tourism side.鈥

DURBAN-CORBIERES, France: French firefighters said Saturday that the country鈥檚 biggest wildfire in at least half a century was contained but would not be brought under control before Sunday evening.
The fire near the Mediterranean coast has ravaged a vast area of the southern Aude department at the peak of the summer tourist season, killing one person and injuring several others.
鈥淭he fire is contained but ... until Sunday evening the fire will not be under control,鈥 said Christophe Magny, chief of the region鈥檚 firefighter unit.
Authorities warned that Sunday鈥檚 forecasted hot, dry winds 鈥 similar to those when the fire began 鈥 and a heatwave alert with temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius would keep the some 1,400 firefighters mobilized on high alert.
鈥淭he firefighters will do their utmost before the return of the tramontane鈥 this weekend, the president of the Aude departmental council, Helene Sandragne, said, referring to a northerly wind that regularly blows through the area.
The blaze 鈥 the largest in at least 50 years 鈥 tore through 16,000 hectares of vegetation, disaster officials said, revising an earlier estimate of 17,000 hectares.
About 2,000 people were evacuated, though local authorities allowed them to return home on Friday evening.
In Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, a 65-year-old woman was found dead Wednesday in her home, which was devastated by flames.
Authorities said one resident suffered serious burns and four others were slightly injured, while 19 firefighters were hurt, including one with a head injury.
Experts say European countries are becoming ever more vulnerable to such disasters due to intensifying summer heatwaves linked to global warming.

South Korea鈥檚 military says North Korea is removing speakers from their tense border
  • South Korea鈥檚 Joint Chiefs of Staff did not disclose the sites where the North Koreans were removing speakers
  • In recent months, South Korean border residents have complained that North Korean speakers blasted irritating sounds

SEOUL: South Korea鈥檚 military said Saturday it detected North Korea removing some of its loudspeakers from the inter-Korean border, days after the South dismantled its own front-line speakers used for anti-North Korean propaganda broadcasts, in a bid to ease tensions.

South Korea鈥檚 Joint Chiefs of Staff didn鈥檛 disclose the sites where the North Koreans were removing speakers and said it wasn鈥檛 immediately clear whether the North would take all of them down.

In recent months, South Korean border residents have complained that North Korean speakers blasted irritating sounds, including howling animals and pounding gongs, in a tit-for-tat response to South Korean propaganda broadcasts.

The South Korean military said the North stopped its broadcasts in June after Seoul鈥檚 new liberal president, Lee Jae Myung, halted the South鈥檚 broadcasts in his government鈥檚 first concrete step toward easing tensions between the war-divided rivals. South Korea鈥檚 military began removing its speakers from border areas on Monday but didn鈥檛 specify how they would be stored or whether they could be quickly redeployed if tensions flared again.

North Korea, which is extremely sensitive to any outside criticism of its authoritarian leadership and its third-generation ruler, Kim Jong Un, didn鈥檛 immediately confirm it was taking down its speakers.

South Korea鈥檚 previous conservative government resumed daily loudspeaker broadcasts in June last year, following a yearslong pause, in retaliation for North Korea flying trash-laden balloons toward the South.

The speakers blasted propaganda messages and K-pop songs, a playlist designed to strike a nerve in Pyongyang, where Kim has been pushing an intense campaign to eliminate the influence of South Korean pop culture and language among the population in a bid to strengthen his family鈥檚 dynastic rule.

The Cold War-style psychological warfare campaigns further heightened tensions already inflamed by North Korea鈥檚 advancing nuclear program and South Korean efforts to expand joint military exercises with the United States and their trilateral security cooperation with Japan.

Lee, who took office in June after winning an early election to replace ousted conservative Yoon Suk Yeol, wants to improve relations with Pyongyang, which reacted furiously to Yoon鈥檚 hardline policies and shunned dialogue.

But Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of the North Korean leader, rebuffed overtures by Lee鈥檚 government in late July, saying that Seoul鈥檚 鈥渂lind trust鈥 in the country鈥檚 alliance with the United States makes it no different from its conservative predecessor.

She later issued a separate statement dismissing the Trump administration鈥檚 intent to resume diplomacy on North Korea鈥檚 denuclearization, suggesting that Pyongyang 鈥 now focused on expanding ties with Russia over the war in Ukraine 鈥 sees little urgency in resuming talks with Seoul or Washington.

Tensions between the Koreas can possibly rise again later this month, when South Korea and the United States proceed with their annual large-scale combined military exercises, which begin on Aug. 18. North Korea labels the allies鈥 joint drills as invasion rehearsals and often uses them as a pretext to dial up military demonstrations and weapons tests aimed at advancing its nuclear program.
