National Development Fund supports Saudi economy with $8bn financing in Q1

RIYADH:聽海角直播鈥檚聽industrial sector聽and small and medium enterprises were聽among the聽key聽beneficiaries聽of聽the聽Kingdom鈥檚聽National Development Fund聽which provided over SR30 billion ($8 billion) funding support聽in the first quarter of 2023.聽聽聽

The funding was聽allocated聽through聽a number of聽cooperation agreements and financing support聽for various聽economic sectors聽with an aim聽to聽achieve聽the social,聽economic聽and cultural goals envisioned in the Kingdom鈥檚 Vision 2030.聽聽

This comes after the fund approved over SR135聽billion聽in聽financing support聽for聽2022, its annual report released in January showed.聽聽聽

The NDF鈥檚 quarterly report聽pointed out that聽its聽Saudi Industrial Development Fund approved聽financing agreements valued at SR875 million with 24 businesses聽to support the聽objectives聽of the National Strategy for Industry.聽聽

The report highlighted聽various聽achievements, agreements and new initiatives that helped in maximizing the developmental impact on the Saudi economy.聽聽

For instance,聽SIDF聽signed an聽agreement with the Kingdom鈥檚 Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority, known as聽Monsha'at, to聽operate聽a聽program聽titled聽鈥淗ow to start your industrial聽project鈥澛犅犅

The program aims to empower business owners and聽facilitate聽their employment in the industrial sector by educating, fostering and inspiring young Saudi men and women.聽聽

Furthermore, the SIDF backed more than 100聽beneficiaries via聽academic and advisory programs in the first聽three聽months of the聽year.聽聽聽

In support of the Kingdom鈥檚 tourism聽sector, the Tourism Development Fund聽also聽agreed to聽provide聽SR260 million in financing for 11 businesses in the sector聽during that period.聽聽聽

The tourism funding聽was聽provided聽to聽57 beneficiaries聽spread over 11 businesses聽through its pre-financing counseling and logistical support programs,聽stated聽the report.聽聽聽

Meanwhile, a聽total of SR16 million in loans and over SR15 million in support were guaranteed by the Cultural Development Fund聽to聽finance cultural projects聽during the first three months of the year.聽聽

As for 海角直播鈥檚 efforts in advancing its human capital,聽the聽Human Resources Development Fund financed over 836,000 individuals and 73,000 enterprises in the first quarter of 2023.聽聽聽

With a value exceeding SR2.2 billion, the funding contributed to employing over 96,000 individuals, and went towards employment support programs, empowerment programs, job search聽assistance and training.聽聽聽

Additionally, the Small and Medium Enterprises Bank provided over SR1.1 billion in financing聽to 301 SMEs during聽the first three months, revealed the report.聽聽聽

In support of 海角直播鈥檚 society, the Social Development Bank financed around聽9,000 individuals, with a value of SR454 million during that period.聽聽聽

The SDB also supported about 25,000 beneficiaries in freelance, with a value of SR1.5 billion, as well as 3,000聽SMEs聽with a value of SR1.1 billion.聽聽

Agricultural聽and non-oil exports also聽received聽financial support聽as聽SR2.6 billion聽worth聽of funding聽was provided聽by聽the Agricultural Development Fund聽to over 2,086 individuals and 21 establishments in the first quarter.聽聽聽聽

During the first聽same period, the Saudi EXIM Bank聽also聽provided聽credit facilities聽totaling about SR4.26 billion聽to support the Kingdom鈥檚 non-oil聽exports.聽聽

Furthermore,聽the Kingdom聽has been a central contributor to international development aid,聽providing聽crucial financial support to聽numerous聽nations through its Saudi Fund for Development.聽聽聽
