Mining, manufacturing sectors drive Saudi industrial growth to 9.3%: GASTAT聽

RIYADH: 海角直播鈥檚 Industrial Production Index rose 9.3 percent year on year in September, driven by strong growth in manufacturing, mining, and quarrying, official data showed.聽

According to preliminary figures from 海角直播鈥檚 General Authority for Statistics, the Kingdom鈥檚 IPI advanced to 116.1 in September, up from 113.9 in August.聽

The latest results highlight progress under 海角直播鈥檚 Vision 2030 agenda, which seeks to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on crude revenues.聽

The IPI measures changes in industrial output based on the International Standard Industrial Classification framework, covering mining, manufacturing, utilities, and waste management sectors.聽

In its latest report, GASTAT stated: 鈥淧reliminary results indicate a 9.3 percent increase in the IPI in September 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, supported by the rise in mining and quarrying activity, manufacturing activity, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activity and water supply, sewerage and waste management and remediation activities.鈥澛

The sub-index for mining and quarrying grew by 11 percent annually in September, supported by the Kingdom鈥檚 decision to raise oil production to 9.97 million barrels per day, compared with 8.97 million bpd a year earlier.聽

Manufacturing activity advanced 6.3 percent year on year, driven by a 6 percent rise in the production of coke and refined petroleum products and a 9.2 percent increase in the manufacture of chemicals and related products.聽

On a monthly basis, mining and quarrying activities increased by 2.5 percent. The manufacturing index edged up 1 percent, supported by a 1.6 percent rise in coke and refined petroleum production and a 6.9 percent jump in food manufacturing.聽

Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply expanded 12.6 percent year on year, while water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities increased 9.2 percent over the same period but declined 2.3 percent compared to August.聽

Overall, the oil activities index grew 10.1 percent in September from a year earlier, while non-oil activities rose 7.3 percent. Compared with August, oil activities were up 2.3 percent, and non-oil operations increased by 0.8 percent.聽

RIYADH: Under the patronage of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Riyadh is set to host the inaugural edition of the TOURISE 2025 Summit, organized by the Ministry of Tourism from Nov. 11 to 13. 

TOURISE aims to shape the future of global tourism by fostering its growth and sustainability. It will bring together leading figures from key sectors intersecting with tourism, including technology, aviation, entertainment, education, sustainability, and media. 

Discussions at the event will focus on developing innovative, actionable solutions that enable the tourism industry to address future challenges and thrive over the next five decades. 

Minister of Tourism and Chairman of TOURISE Ahmed Al-Khateeb expressed his gratitude to the Crown Prince for his generous patronage, which he said expands the event鈥檚 reach and influence. He added that the Crown Prince鈥檚 continued support reflects his commitment to advancing the tourism sector as part of Saudi Vision 2030. 

Al-Khateeb noted that 鈥渨ork is progressing on all fronts to empower our vital sector, which continues to demonstrate its readiness and competitiveness day after day.鈥 

He further highlighted that 海角直播 ranked first among G20 countries in international tourist arrivals for 2024 and led globally in the growth of tourism revenues from inbound visitors. 

TOURISE 2025 will feature a dynamic agenda of discussions, panels, and interactive experiences built around four key themes: addressing challenges, seizing growth opportunities, stimulating major investments, and shaping future policies. 

Sessions will also explore rapid transformations in the tourism industry, including artificial intelligence applications, bold investment models, innovative travel experiences, and sustainable tourism that balances people and the planet.
