  • Japan qualified for next year鈥檚 World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Bahrain on Thursday
  • Renard聽said the previous game against China, which 海角直播 won 1-0聽was 鈥渁 good game鈥

TOKYO: 海角直播 manager Herv茅聽Renard says Japan鈥檚 qualification for the World Cup will not affect how either team plays when they meet on Tuesday at Saitama Stadium just north of Tokyo.

Japan qualified for next year鈥檚 World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Bahrain on Thursday聽and remained top of Group C with 19 points from seven games. Australia is second with聽10 points followed by 海角直播 with nine.

鈥淲e still have to play Japan tomorrow, then go to Bahrain and to receive Australia for聽the last game, so it鈥檚 a聽tough sprint for the second position,鈥澛燫enard said at a press conference on Monday held in Saitama Stadium near Tokyo. "You always have to adapt yourself to the situation, to be strong and to fight to get the direct qualification.聽We know Japan聽are disciplined, we know their聽philosophy, and聽there is no doubt they can play this game against us at 100 percent.聽We are playing against the best team in Asia,聽so聽we will be聽ready to compete on the field tomorrow.鈥

Goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aghidi聽said the Saudi squad have had a positive few days in Japan: 鈥淲e have a good a couple of days here in Japan and everything has been聽positive. I would like to thank the Japanese for their warm welcome for the team here and we would like to congratulate them on securing their spot in the World Cup finals. Tomorrow's game is a difficult game for both teams and hopefully we can manage to get the three points.鈥

Renard聽said the previous game against China, which 海角直播 won 1-0聽was 鈥渁 good game鈥澛燽ut admitted his team was not efficient聽enough. 鈥淲e didn't score a lot of goals, but we got a lot of opportunities,鈥澛爃e said.

Renard noted that the squad had suffered some injuries, and the demands of Ramadan had also affected聽some players, but he emphasized, he was not looking for excuses. 鈥淵es, it's true we have some injured players, but聽this is part of football where we must adapt ourselves. Concerning聽getting聽cramp during Ramadan, it聽is never easy for all the players, but they must adapt themselves. So, we must be ready tomorrow聽because tomorrow we'll have to run聽a聽lot.鈥

Al-Aghidi said his role as a goalkeeper聽was just to help the team: 鈥淢y aim is always to help my national team, and this is why I wanted to have more playing time, and this is the place I want to be. As a goalkeeper,聽it's very important to have more playing time.聽I'm ready to play a key role for my team tomorrow. I will do my best to help my fellow players during the game to get the result that we have been working for.鈥

Renard聽was asked about Japan鈥檚 ambition to win the World Cup by 2050.

鈥淚t's normal when you have a聽big ambition,鈥澛爃e replied. 鈥淭o win the World Cup is a very big ambition, but they can do聽this聽in the future, I'm sure, because they have so many quality聽players.聽We are playing against a very strong team, so we need to be ready to have a tough game. But in football you must believe in yourself.鈥

  • 鈥淲e鈥檙e currently checking whether there鈥檚 a possibility of coaching compensation when players switch national associations,鈥 Rettig said
  • Germany have long seen players with one or two parents born abroad opt to represent their country of their roots

BERLIN: The German soccer federation (DFB) want compensation when players opt to represent other countries after representing Germany at youth levels.
鈥淚t simply makes no sense to me why a player who has been coached primarily at his club for five years but also by the federation as a junior partner should be able to switch national associations for free,鈥 DFB managing director Andreas Rettig told news agency dpa on Tuesday.
German-born Juventus star Kenan Y谋ld谋z is a Turkish international, having played for Turkiye鈥檚 youth teams. Eintracht Frankfurt forward Can Uzun also turned down Germany in favor of Turkiye.
Former Hertha Berlin forward Ibrahim Maza, now playing for Bayer Leverkusen, plays for Algeria after appearing for Germany at youth levels.
German youth internationals Muhammed Damar and Nicol貌 Tresoldi are reportedly being courted by Turkiye and Italy, respectively, and the Frankfurter Rundschau daily newspaper reported on Sunday that Nuremberg defender Fabio Gruber has chosen to represent Peru.
鈥淲e鈥檙e currently checking whether there鈥檚 a possibility of coaching compensation when players switch national associations,鈥 Rettig said. 鈥淭his issue has not yet been addressed extensively. But coaching must be worthwhile for both sides, the player and the coach.鈥
Germany have long seen players with one or two parents born abroad opt to represent their country of their roots, while the country has also benefited from immigration as players such as 陌lkay G眉ndo臒an, Mesut 脰zil, Sami Khedira and Gerald Asamoah have contributed to the national team鈥檚 success.
Cologne teenager Said El Mala was last week called up for Germany鈥檚 World Cup qualifiers this week and at least 12 players in the latest squad could have chosen to represent other countries. The injured Jamal Musiala chose Germany after playing for England youth teams.
鈥淚n Germany 43 percent of children under five years of age hold dual citizenship. When they鈥檙e 10 or 12 years older they can decide, do I prefer the (German) eagle or, for example, the (Turkish) crescent moon?鈥 Rettig said.
鈥淲e analyzed the squad lists from the under-15s to the under-21s within the federation. The percentage there is significantly higher than the aforementioned 43 percent. There are age groups in which seven or eight players in the starting 11 have dual nationality.鈥
FIFA would need to approve and enforce any system of compensation payments. Other countries like France, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands could also expect windfalls from home-grown players鈥 switches to other teams.
