JEDDAH: 海角直播鈥檚 leading property developer, ROSHN, has officially launched its first residential community in Makkah, marking a significant milestone in the company鈥檚 efforts to improve the city鈥檚 living standards while supporting the national development goals outlined in Vision 2030.

The launch event for the Al-Manar Community project, which is ROSHN鈥檚 inaugural residential development in Makkah, took place under the patronage of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by a host of prominent figures, including Makkah Mayor Musaed bin Abdulaziz Al-Dawood, Royal Commission for Makkah and Holy Sites CEO Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed, Real Estate General Authority CEO Abdullah Al-Hammad, and ROSHN鈥檚 acting CEO Khaled Jawhar. The event also saw participation from officials across both the public and private sectors.

Strategically positioned, the Al-Manar community is just a 20-minute drive from the Grand Mosque, less than an hour from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and only two minutes from Makkah鈥檚 western gateway. The development鈥檚 design thoughtfully integrates the region鈥檚 rich cultural and architectural heritage, blending modernity with tradition.

The Saudi government, under Vision 2030, has set ambitious targets to boost homeownership among citizens, aiming for 70 percent by the end of the decade.

ROSHN is playing a pivotal role in achieving this goal by developing large-scale residential projects that offer high-quality and affordable housing options for Saudi citizens. These initiatives are in line with the government鈥檚 strategy to expand the housing sector, elevate living standards, and provide homes for the country鈥檚 growing population.

At the ceremony, attendees were given a tour of model villas and previewed the diverse residential designs available within the community. The Al-Manar development will feature a variety of villas alongside essential amenities such as schools, mosques, shopping centers, healthcare facilities, open spaces, and recreational areas.

Khaled Jawhar, acting CEO of ROSHN, explained that the project spans over 21 million sq. meters and will provide more than 33,000 housing units. Additionally, it will offer more than 150 facilities designed to meet the needs of residents and support community well-being.

Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed, CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah and Holy Sites, emphasized the significance of the Al-Manar community as the first fully integrated ROSHN development in Makkah.

鈥淟ocated at the city鈥檚 western gateway, within the Haram boundaries, this project reflects our commitment to facilitating impactful developments that drive long-term growth and sustainability,鈥 Al-Rasheed said.

鈥楩uture cities will be built for visitors, not just residents,鈥 Saudi tourism minister tells Arab News

RIYADH: 海角直播 is positioning itself at the forefront of the global travel evolution by designing destinations that will target the tourists of the future, the Kingdom鈥檚 tourism minister has said.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb added that sustainability would serve as the guiding principle behind 海角直播鈥檚 role in tomorrow鈥檚 global travel landscape.

Travelers鈥 habits and the tourism industry鈥檚 revenue sources have shifted dramatically in recent years, he told Arab News in an interview.

鈥淧eople used to travel in groups. Today, they are traveling in smaller groups. Hotels used to make most of their revenues from rooms 鈥 now, they are making more from lounges and restaurants.鈥

And younger generations, empowered by technology, are also redefining how travel is planned and experienced, Al-Khateeb added. 鈥淭hey are driving their own itineraries on the go, which puts pressure on traditional travel companies that once organized large group trips. We are witnessing big shifts in the global travel market.鈥

Among the world鈥檚 fastest-growing tourism markets, China and India are reshaping international travel flows. 鈥淐hina has become the most important source market for outbound travelers, while India is expected to double its number of travelers in the coming years,鈥 the minister said. 鈥淭his opens a major opportunity for the Middle East 鈥 and 海角直播 in particular 鈥 to emerge as a top destination for international tourists.鈥

Since 2019, 海角直播 has recorded the fastest tourism growth among all G20 nations, said Al-Khateeb. 鈥淲e have a very strong domestic market and a very strong religious market. Now, we have opened our doors for leisure, business and holiday travelers 鈥 whether they seek the Red Sea coast, the southern mountains, our major cities or our beautiful islands.鈥

Yet the Kingdom鈥檚 long-term vision for tourism extends far beyond the present, with destinations being built to serve both visitors and residents sustainably, he added.

鈥淚n the 1950s and 1960s, cities were built for residents,鈥 Al-Khateeb said. 鈥淭oday, in places like Greece, visitors outnumber residents three to one. The cities of the future must be designed for visitors as well 鈥 and that鈥檚 what we are doing in 海角直播.鈥

Sustainability has become a non-negotiable element of all tourism development in the Kingdom, he added. 鈥淚n the last two decades, sustainability has become extremely important. As we build new destinations like the Red Sea, we are fully aligned with sustainability regulations. Whatever we build today is environmentally friendly, ensuring not only environmental, but also social and economic sustainability.鈥

This principle lies at the heart of Vision 2030鈥檚 tourism transformation: 鈥淪ustainability is at our forefront whenever we build or operate any new destination,鈥 he added.
