King Salman Relief Centre launches medical campaign to combat blindness in Pakistan
  • Campaign includes completing 2,400 surgeries and 30,000 examinations free of cost within a month
  • Pakistan is the fifth-largest recipient of aid from the Saudi-based international aid agency

ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) has launched a voluntary medical campaign to combat blindness and the diseases that cause it in collaboration with Al- Basar International Foundation, KSRelief said in a statement on Friday. 
Since 2015, KSRelief has provided humanitarian and development assistance to millions of beneficiaries in more than 49 countries,  spending around $3.25 billion on 1,011 projects. The aid group has partnered with a number of humanitarian organizations including, World Food Program, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, United Nations Children's Emergency Fund, International Committee of the Red Cross and many others.
Pakistan is the fifth-largest recipient of aid from the Saudi-based international aid agency and has received more than $120.2 million in aid.  
“Almost 30,000 patients will be examined, 2,400 surgeries will be performed and 6,000 glasses for weak eyesight will be distributed free of cost within a month from this campaign in district Kandiaro, Shikarpur and Karachi of Province Sindh and the people of district Kalat and Kharan in Baluchistan,†KSRelief said about the new medical campaign for blindness. 
“During the last volunteer medical campaign to combat blindness in Pakistan year 2020, KSRelief completed more than 2,500 eye surgeries and thousands of people benefited from free eye checkup, treatment and medication,†the aid agency said. “This project comes under the umbrella of humanitarian projects by the Kingdom of º£½ÇÖ±²¥, represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to assist most vulnerable.â€
