ISLAMABAD: Pakistani model Saheefa Jabbar said she is fulfilling a promise she made at her recent wedding to auction her wedding dress for charity.
The budding actress wore a pink Fahad Hussayn lehnga at her wedding to Khwaja Khizer Hussain.
“I’ll be doing charity auctions like this forever, and I encourage everyone else to do so as well,” she told Arab News. “When we can use this platform and use it for a cause, why not?”
Jabbar said she plans to split the money raised between a cancer hospital being built in Lahore, and Thar district, which has been experiencing a drought for years.
The dress is on display at the Fashion Pakistan Lounge (FPL) in Lahore, where it will stay for a month before being auctioned.
Designer Hamza Ali Bukhari, a friend of Jabbar, told Arab News: “I don’t think you come across brides like her who’d give away their most prized possession so selflessly. I’m so happy that the FPL is willing to help her.”
He added: “Very few people are fortunate to have such a platform. When they have it, they should make the best of it. I hope every celebrity realizes this… Such people inspire me.”
